AQE 2022 Specification
- Pupils will be given an extra 10 minutes to complete each paper (ie.70 minutes instead of 60 minutes).
- The language within the English and Maths questions will be made more accessible.
- The length of the English passages will be shortened where appropriate.
- Certain topic areas will be omitted from the Mathematics Specification.
In 2022 the following topics will not be tested in the AQE:
Number:
- percentages
- triangular numbers
- the use of a letter to stand for an unknown number
- the interpretation of a calculator display in relation to money
- multiplication beyond a 3-digit number multiplied by a 2 digit number
- division beyond a 3 digit number divided by a single digit
Measures:
- negative numbers
- calculating the area of a non-right-angled triangle
- the continuous nature of measurement and the need for appropriate accuracy
- the use of scale in simple maps and diagrams
- calculations related to timetables involving the 24-hour clock
Shape and Space:
- reflecting a shape in a diagonal line
- tessellations
- name and describe circles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons
Data Handling:
- mean and range
- probability and likelihood
- pie charts
On Target Resources AQE 2022 Specification Practice Papers
All papers will have a time limit of 1 hour and 10 minutes.
English Format:
- poetry comprehension x 1
- fiction comprehension x 1
- non-fiction comprehension x 1
- passages with errors section containing punctuation and spelling x 1
Maths Format:
- All topics listed above have been removed from our AQE Practice Papers
GL 2022 Specification
PPTCNI GL English 2022 Specification
- Pupils will answer 50 questions in 50 minutes
- The length of the paper has been reduced.
- There will be 2 comprehensions with 16 questions each (poetry, fiction and non-fiction) with A, B, C, D, E options
- There will be 9 punctuation and 9 spelling errors questions with A, B, C, D, N options
PPTCNI GL Maths 2022 Specification
- Pupils will answer 45 questions in 45 minutes
- A, B, C, D, E options
In 2022 the following topics will not be tested in the GL Maths:
- proporation
- ratio, including scale
- algebra
- use of brackets
- pie charts
- probabililty
- cube numbers
- negative numbers
- range, medium and mode averages
- volume of cubes and cuboids
- 3D shapes
- timetables
