GL Assessment NI Transfer Test Dates 2022
The Post Primary Transfer Consortium (PPTC) is a private limited company made up of a group of schools which use academic selection to admit their year 8 students. The PPTC includes Catholic grammar schools, Non- denominational grammar schools and Integrated schools in its membership. In 2022 the PPTC is using the GL Assessment NI Transfer Test.
The GL test will be held on Saturday 12th November in 2022. You will choose which school you wish your child to sit the test when registering for the test.
Contingency date (if your child is unable to attend the test on 12th November)- Saturday 10th December.
When does Registration for the GL Assessment Transfer Test Open in 2022?
Registration opens on the 4th May 2022 and closes on the 23rd September 2022.

GL 2022 Specification
To take account of the considerable disruption caused by Covid-19 to children’s education over the past two years, the PPTCNI have made changes to the assessment in 2022.
GL English
- Pupils will answer 50 questions in 50 minutes
- The length of the paper has been reduced.
- 2 comprehensions with 16 questions each (poetry, fiction and non-fiction) with A, B, C, D, E options
- 9 punctuation and 9 spelling errors questions with A, B, C, D, N options
GL Maths
- Pupils will answer 45 questions in 45 minutes
- A, B, C, D, E options
- Some maths topics have been removed from the 2022 specification
